Anya
- The first batch of information
on Anya was released on December 13, 2000.
She is the daughter of one of the Barbarian
clans' past elders, who was slain by the
Lord of Destruction (Baal) along his path
towards the World Stone. While it is not
completely confirmed, the short summary
about her supplied from Blizzard North hints
that she will be a merchant NPC in Act V,
most likely supplying magical goods, potions,
scrolls of TP and Identify, etc.
Anya, the daughter of a clan elder slain
by Baal, has been groomed since birth to
become a leader of her people. She has a
broad education in the history, magic and
healing techniques of her clan. Although
she grieves for her father in her heart,
she knows that she must be strong for her
people in this time of need.

Malah
- Malah was the fourth announced NPC from
the Diablo II Expansion Set, and we received
her information on December 6, 2000. She
is the healer non-player character of
Act V, the one who will restore you to
full hit points and mana. We can't be
sure about her being a merchant yet, however,
but she will probably end up providing
a quest or two-- or at least more information
about one.
Malah is a kind and inherently optimistic
woman who is, nevertheless, worn down
by many battles against to the forces
of evil. Using her lifelong experience
as a healer, she is doing her best to
help the many wounded and dying. She is
plagued, however, with the fear that there
may be no ultimate recovery for her people
or the world of Sanctuary.

Larzuk
- He is an enormous Barbarian of Qual-Kehk's
clan, a merchant who will provide you
with armor and weapons exclusively. Larzuk
will also be the only NPC of Act V who
will repair your items, though he does
not bring along the gambling feature.
According to Blizzard North's description,
this non-player character is a bit on
the younger side, though his wares will
still be the highest quality you can purchase
(besides from gambling).
Larzuk is a young and passionate firebrand
who is determined to stay the course until
the bitter end of the war against Baal.
He prides himself in his ability to create
the finest implements of war, and he toils
ceaselessly to supply the army with blade,
plate and mail.

Nihlathak
- He is the last clan elder of the Barbarian
group, who has been driven near insanity
because of guilt that he could not successfully
protect the World Stone from evil. Nihlathak
sounds like an interesting character,
though a bit on the nutty side. He might
be the Farnham of the Diablo II Expansion
Set, but we'll have to wait and see. We
can easily guess that he will either provide
you with a quest or two, or will be a
more pivotal character in the Expansion.
"As the last surviving clan elder, he
has been driven close to madness by his
grief over the imminent failure of his
clan to protect the World Stone. Constantly
ruminating on the myriad alternate courses
the elders could have taken, he lives
with the guilt of not dying with his peers."

Qual-Kehk
- Qual-Kehk is the greatly respected commander/warlord
of the Barbarian clan, a diminishing group
located in the Barbarian Highlands. Completing
the first quest of Act V allows you to
gain his trust, reminding us of Akara
and the first quest of Act I. After you
have done this, he will give you the second
quest, which will require you to rescue
a few Barbarians from the minions of Baal.
Qual-Kehk shares another similarity with
an NPC of Act I, this being Kashya, since
he will offer hired mercenaries for purchase
if you successfully complete the second
quest.
"Although tired and battered, the clan’s
Master at Arms still commands the unquestioning
respect of his men. His eyes are grimly
focused on the horizon, and he has the
wistful demeanor of a man who knows he
will soon sacrifice his life -- and those
of his men -- in a battle that may not
be won."

Tyreal
- This Archangel, who previously starred
in Diablo II, will be involved in some part
or parts of Act V, although whether or not
he will be located in the town is unknown.
Though he was in the Pandemonium Fortress
of Act IV, we speculate that you will come
in contact with Tyreal some time outside
of town, after completing a quest, possibly.
We'd love to see him in the final cinematic
(we all remember how incredible he looked
in the Act II and III cinematics), but nothing
about that is confirmed.

Deckard
Cain - The last of the Horadric
Mages will continue with you to Act V, remaining
as a guidance figure. It is unknown as to
whether or not he will give you quests,
but he should certainly supply you with
important information regarding the World
Stone, and possibly even Baal (the Lord
of Destruction). Of course, his free indentification
of items service will continue.
